What a wonderful day!

Saturday, September 30, dawned bright and cool as more than 100 alumni and their guests began arriving in Geneseo for the long-anticipated Library School Reunion. While the sun did not last all day, I believe the good times did! From what I could see, folks were enjoying themselves as they greeted old friends and made new ones. The parade was lots of fun, the lunch was fabulous, and the Minerva Award winners were all excellent representatives of their alma mater.

Perhaps the alumni themselves would like to share their impressions of the day by adding a comment to this entry. And be on the lookout for lots of pictures available on the Reunion website within the next week or two. Thanks to everyone, alumni and and staff alike, who helped make this event the huge success it was!

48 hours to go!

The library and its staff are busily preparing for the Library School Reunion this weekend. Last minute meetings are being held, last minute arrangements are being made, and last minute problems are being sorted out.

The response to this reunion has been simply amazing: we are delighted that so many of you are making the trip to Geneseo. The class of 1975 is leading the way in attendance with 11 class members registered.

Many alumni have stayed in the area, including one from Main Street, although others are coming all the way from Wisconsin and Kentucky for the event. Our alumni are working as school librarians, public librarians, academic and special librarians. Many alumni have retired and are very busy with volunteer activities. Returning alumni also represent a wide range of graduating years: from 1934 all the way to 1985!

The weather for Saturday is looking reasonable, with clouds but no rain predicted. Temperatures will be in the low 60's (from www.weather.com).

See you on Saturday!

Thought of Reunion triggers memories

Hi, everyone -- Ever since we started planning for this Reunion, I've been hearing stories and fond recollections from alumni, some of whom have already registered for the Reunion. We've heard from someone who witnessed Minerva's toenails being painted, when she stood in Old Main. Another alum remembers (not so fondly) being in Geneseo during the Attica prison riots. Others recall favorite faculty members. Why not add your memories, via a "comment" to this posting?

Looking for members of the Class of 1965

We just received an email from Barbara Wride Tompkins, who would like to hear from her fellow members of the Class of 1965. Her email address is barbt7900@juno.com.

First registration received for Reunion!

We're happy to report that Katherine Weir (Class of 1971) is the first alumna to register for the Reunion. The fact that she'll be travelling to Geneseo all the way from Normal, IL makes it even more exciting!

If you're thinking you might like to attend the Reunion and want to get an idea of who else is thinking about it, too, why not hit the Comment button below and "put it out there" for other alum to read? That's really what this blog is for, so let's start communicating with each other!

Alumni are enthusiastic!

I continue to be amazed at the interest and enthusiasm I'm encountering from Library School alumni as they hear about our planned Reunion on September 30. Although I didn't receive my MLS here, I am really looking forward to seeing all you alumni reunite after all these years since Geneseo's School of Library and Information Science closed.

If anyone wants to send me names of SLIS alumni you think may be "lost," I'd be happy to check it against the list we have. Hey, you never know!
